The Bespoke Process

After reaching out by email and discussing initial ideas, we can meet in-person, or via Zoom, to explore your one-of-a-kind creation.

As the design takes shape we can share renderings and photographs with you, along with information on metal alloys and gemstones to help you reach the right decision. We primarily work in 10K, 14K, 18K gold and platinum, including special alloys of lightly-toned yellow gold, green gold, pink gold and white gold. To minimise impact to the environment, wherever possible, we utilize raw materials and alloys that have been recycled and have been processed in an ethically responsible and sustainable manner.

As selecting the right gemstone is not always easy, we can help by sharing photographs of available gemstones or source something special. During this process we will always share as much information as possible. We only use stones that have been ethically sourced, such as sapphires from mines in Australia, and only use conflict free diamonds that comply with the UN Kimerberley Process.

Once the design is confirmed, work will commence on your piece. This often begins by creating, carving and forming the design in wax. This allows us to achieve fine details and unique organic textures before transferring the design to precious metal using a technique called lost-wax casting.

Once cast, we hand finish the design with great care. Importantly, all of this work occurs within my NYC studio, it is not outsourced or mass manufactured. The quality of each individual piece is of supreme importance and the fabrication process requires careful attention to detail. To set gemstones and achieve fine surface detailing, we use specialised tools under a microscope to ensure the best possible precision and craftsmanship.

As this process unfolds we’re happy to share updates with you, and usually after 4-6 weeks the bespoke creation will be with you!
